EP. 26 DIY MOBILE DUST COLLECTION
Today on Modern Builds, I'm using a shop vac as the base for a mobile dust collection cart using a Dust Separator from Rockler. This dust collection unit is great because i can move it from tool to tool, and use it as a floor sweep.
SUPPLIES:
Dust Rite Dust Separator: http://goo.gl/MKvOEq
Small Port Hose Kit: http://goo.gl/yMlLkR
Rigid Shop Vac: http://amzn.to/1SdE6DL
STEP ONE: Make A Base
I used a scrap piece of 3/4" MDF and added strength by using 1x4 bracing.
STEP TWO: Add Casters
STEP THREE: Hold It Down
I'm using wood blocks held down with wood glue and hot glue to keep the separator in place, while still allowing it to lift out to empty. I'm holding the shop vac down with a nut and bolt.
Step Four: Add a Handle
I used 2x4's and a 1 1/4" dowel for the handle.
STEP FIVE: Use It.
That's all there is to it! I hope you enjoyed it and go out and make your own. If you do, don't forget to tag me in a picture of it!
